This July marks the five-year anniversary of The Great Lakes Coffee Roasting Company’s flagship coffee house in Detroit.
When we first decided to open a coffee house we looked at many locations in Detroit and its’ suburbs before choosing a spot located on Woodward’s historic Garden Block. At the time, people balked at the name Midtown not seeing the potential of the Cass Corridor, now fast forward and Midtown is exploding with development and our patio on Alexandrine is full of life and the Strathmoore Hotel across the street is full of people and businesses.
A coffee house is intended to be a gathering place and we are so thankful for the successes we’ve seen inside our walls. There have been countless businesses formed and details hashed out at our communal tables. Romances have budded in various corners of the bar as we are reminded often by couples who return to celebrate. These relationships along with those of the people whose coffee, food and liquor we sell, form the basis of our business. The value of the people who create based on their own passions inspires us every day.
Come celebrate with us on July 29th with all day specials, music and good vibes.
